Monolithic Seeks Sponsors for Emerging Countries Housing Projects Ultra low-cost housing at affordable prices is one of the principal goals of the Monolithic Dome Institute. We have designed and constructed a simple, 28-square-meter (314 square feet) house which utilizes approximately $1000 worth of basic material. This concrete steel-reinforced dome measures 6 meters (20 feet) in diameter and 3 meters (10 feet) in height. It consists of openings for a door and window in front and two small windows in the rear. It is projected these small living units built in quantity could be sold for less than $5000 each - including land, infrastructure and financing. EcoShells - The EcoShell dome so described cannot be burned, rotted, eaten by insects, collapsed by earthquakes or blown away by wind of whatever strength. Less than 50% of concrete and rebar are needed to build this structure as compared to a rectangular building of the same square footage. It uses less materials and is much stronger. It also takes less manpower and time to construct. Sponsors Needed - Monolithic Dome Institute desires to introduce and promote this technology to any country that can use it. Monolithic is a small company without government ties or other funding. It must work through sponsors. These sponsors -- be they private foundations, governmental bodies, relief organizations, or for-profit centers must bear the costs of such transfer of this technology. Monolithic needs up front money to do a feasibility study, demonstration construction, and project construction with training at all stages. This is estimated to be from $100,000 to $500,000 depending on the amount of training and size of project. Training Available -Monolithic does not nor cannot give exclusive rights or training to any individual, or entity. The technology is for everyone that desires to learn it. The same techniques utilized to construct the housing units can be employed to build bridges and culverts.
