Natural Ovens Bakery Nears Completionby Kris GarrisonSeptember 17, 2002 Natural Ovens of Manitowoc, Wisconsin was founded in 1976 by Paul Stitt, M.S. (Biochemistry, University of Wisconsin). According to the company history posted on their website, Stitt saw a need for fresh, filling and satisfying, preservative-free whole grain food in the Midwest. Business growth has been steady and now, a second bakery is near completion, a large Monolithic Dome in Valparaiso, Indiana. The first level of the 220' x 64' foot dome includes the bakery production area, a mezzanine and offices. The second level will be used for future offices.George Douglas, Manager of Operations said, "It's a learning curve whenever you aren't working with right angles, but construction is going well. Windows are being placed and painting, electrical, and plumbing are underway. We are hoping for a November grand opening."
