XTREME HOUSES - Book ReviewThe Monolithic Dome is featured in a recently published book entitled, XTREME HOUSES, by Courtenay Smith and Sean Topham. The 168-page, full-color, book is a compilation of unique and interesting homes including an aluminum can home, a straw bale home and even an aquasphere. The opening comment to readers states, "We are not architects. Nor have we ever studied architecture proper. We have, however, spent pretty much all of our lives, living in some sort of house and have shaped those houses to better suit our needs, which we guess makes us architects along with everyone else who has made a decision about the place they call home." The color illustrations are excellent and the authors share a full spectrum of ideas from all over the world. For anyone interested in exploring unique and extreme-style homes, this book covers them all. The book is available at both online bookstores: Barnes and Noble and Amazon. |
