With the construction of their new Multi-Purpose Ministry Center, a Monolithic Dome, nearing completion, Whaley United Methodist Church of Gainesville, Texas began planning an opening event.

After much discussion, they decided on a theatrical production, "The Best Christmas Pageant Ever." Two performances of this comedy were scheduled, the first for Friday, December 16 and the second for the following evening.

"At about three in the afternoon on Friday, we got a big boom," reports Ron Medley, who oversees construction projects at the church. "One of the pumps went out in our heating system, and we lost half of our power."

They contacted their electrician who succeeded in restoring power in time for the opening curtain of their opening performance, and the evening proved a big success.

"We later learned that our power failure was due to an unfortunate squirrel that had gone up a power pole behind our property," Mr. Medley said. "But here's the really strange thing -- on the following day, a second squirrel did the same thing, and again we lost power. Well, the Lord took care of us again. Power was restored and all went well."
