Supporting a Good Cause With Dinner in a DomeSeptember 26, 2006 by Freda Parker How’s this for a fresh fundraising idea: a gourmet dinner for a party of four, or six, or eight in a Monolithic Dome? According to an August 17, 2006 article in the Yucaipa/Calimesa News Mirror, that’s just what Dr. Al and Ruth Braswell, owners of Vista Dhome in Yucaipa, CA, did. On Saturday, August 12, the Braswells hosted a fabulous dinner, planned and prepared by Chef Michelle Braswell, for Donna Hoffman and five of her guests. Ms. Hoffman had successfully bid on this event at a “gala fundraising auction” sponsored by Crafton Hills College Foundation. In addition to dinner, the guests enjoyed a tour of Vista Dhome—a unique home of three, interconnected Monolithic Domes and its one-of-a-kind decorative touches. While the article doesn’t say so, the guests may have also been told the story of a devastating wildfire that Vista Dhome survived in 2002.
