Leitgeb Industries Builds Vacation Home

By: Freda Parker

October 2, 2006

Larry Leitgeb, owner of Leitgeb Industries, a Monolithic dome-building firm headquartered in Toccoa, Georgia, recently completed a small, but snug, secure and comfortable vacation cabin.

Located in Red Level, Alabama, a community of less than 600 people close to Florida's coastline, the dome has a diameter of 26 feet and a living area of just over 500 square feet. Special features include roof style windows and poured concrete countertops.

About the roof style windows, Larry said, "I think that this offers advantages. One is that no augment is required."

As for the poured concrete countertops, the advantage there is an aesthetic one, since the countertops conform perfectly to the exact shape of the dome's rounded outer wall.

Larry maintains an extensive website at www.Leitgebindustries.com. It features pictures of his completed projects as well as the Monolithic Dome he and his family occupy.

As they have done in the past, the Leitgebs will participate in this year's Dome Tour. During the 2004 Dome Tour, they had 100 visitors, and they anticipate a healthy turnout at this year's event.
