Dome Churches Profiled in "Your Church" Magazine
May 10, 2006
by Carol Lanham
For half a century, Christianity Today International’s mission has been to “engage, encourage, and equip the church worldwide.” In March/April 2006, the organization co-founded by Billy Graham, turned its focus to Monolithic Domes by featuring several dome churches in Your Church magazine’s cover story.
The article, headlined Construction Choices and written by Thomas Dolan, included large photos of Faith Chapel in Birmingham, Alabama and Brooksville Assembly of God in Florida. Dolan pointed out that the lifetime of domes can be measured in centuries rather than decades, even though the cost per square foot is comparable to standard church buildings.
But the advantages do not end there. The savings in energy consumption compared to traditional construction allows the building to pay for itself within 20 years, and domes can withstand winds of up to 350 miles per hour. Click here to read the entire article.
