Trinidad, a rural Texas community of 1000 and school district with just 310 students (K-12), is witnessing progress on their new Monolithic Dome gymnasium. We will be following their project and posting new pictures here often.

Superintendent Michael Green and other board members from Trinidad School District heard rumor of the new Monolithic Dome gymnasiums built in Avalon and Italy, Texas. Shortly thereafter, Green received a promotional CD from Monolithic in the mail. After doing their homework about conventional and Monolithic gyms, they decided to take a trip to Italy, Texas for a grand tour of both dome gymnasiums. Everyone on the board loved what they saw!

After months of working out details, they were able to pass a bond which did not require any IFA money (Instructional Facility Allotment). Construction is now underway on their 130-foot diameter Monolithic Dome gymnasium. The facility will feature a 16-foot stemwall giving it a total height of 40 feet. With seating to accommodate 800 spectators, the gym will be used for school sporting events, graduation exercises, band concerts and community events. Estimated completion dates is November 2004.
