Faith Chapel Christian Center — Located in Birmingham, Alabama, this Monolithic Dome mega church was built in 2000.
Largest — With its diameter of 280 feet, FCCC is the largest Monolithic Dome built to date.
A complex of 5 Monolithic Domes — Each dome houses a specific group or activity.
Architect’s Model — The 5 domes include a children’s play area, adult bistro, youth disco, gym and bowling alley.
Worship Center — After completing a $15 million, Monolithic Dome worship center in 2000, FCCC decided to add 6 more domes in phases.
Sanctuary — It has a seating capacity for approximately 3,000.
Huge interior — This dome encloses 61,575 square feet.
Monoform Primer — Using climbing harnesses and soft-soled shoes, a crew sprayed Monoform Primer over the Airform.
More coating — The Airform was also treated with two applications of a high tensile acrylic base coat.
Surface area — Faith Chapel’s dome has a surface area of approximately two acres or 86,000 square feet.
Specials — UCSC custom mixed special primers and paint for coating the Airform.
After the coatings — With coating completed, the crew marked areas where stripes would be placed.
Stripes — The crew used rollers to paint the stripes.
Let it Shine! — The special paint makes the dome shine.
Entrance — It opens onto a huge facility of Monolithic Domes.
Breathtaking — This amazing FCCC worship center was designed by Rick Crandall.
Inflating the Airform — A crew from Dome Technology of Idaho Falls, Idaho inflated the Airform and constructed the dome shell.
Cluster — This sketch shows a landscaped cluster of domes and parking area.
Plans — They included FCCC expansion.
