Energy Recovery Unit Monolithic

This RecoupAerator ERV was installed in a window at Charca Casa, the Monolithic Dome home of Judy and David South, and monitored closely. It proved very efficient. The Souths’ home is now always under 1200 ppm — even with lots of company.

It houses two fans. One pulls air from inside the house to the outside, and the other pulls fresh air from the outside into the inside. A temperature exchange takes place in the cube on the right.

This photo was taken during the Research/Development stages. The vents are more separated now. Even with such a close intake and output, this is a very effective way of freshening the air.
