Monolithic Quick Corners is a new product that will cut hours off your door buck construction. This plastic corner piece is used to help create door and window openings for Monolithic Dome augments with the radius corners.

These plastic corner pieces are designed to be used with 8" or 10" pressure treated board, which are the two most common lumber sizes that we use in dome construction.

Here’s how it works:

Step 1 – Cut the lumber to size: Simply take the height of the door and subtract 8 inches, and that will be the length of the two side pieces for the door buck. Then, take the width of the door and subtract 16 inches, and that will be the top piece of the door. In the images, my crew opted to cut a small section of the boards to slide into the plastic corner. This helps make the corner stronger, but it is optional.

Step 2 – Screw it all together: Now take all the pieces and screw them together, and the basic frame is complete.

Step 3 – Reinforcement: The door buck gets pressure from all different directions during dome construction. The Airform will try to pull it apart, and the concrete will try to push it back down. So creating a strong door buck is important. We use 2×4s to brace the inside of the door buck and to help keep the corners from twisting.

There, that was easy. This tool will help cut many, many hours of labor off of your job and is well worth the money. Enjoy.
