We recently moved one of our Monolithic Cabins to one of our rental sites, and I was asked to give a little slideshow on how these cabins were moved and hooked up for service.

Step 1:

Once the cabin is completed, it is lifted by 4 lifting pins that are placed in the bottom beams. The crane lifts the cabin with spreader bars and places it on a trailer from our plant at Monolithic.

Step2 :

The cabin is then taken to its destination. A crane will then lift it off the trailer and set it on to its foundation. In this case, we used concrete posts down to rock to hold the cabin. Depending on the site, you can use different foundation systems.

Step 3:

The crane can easily move and maneuver the cabins into place.

Step 4:

Crews start to install plumbing and electrical lines before the cabins are in place. Ditches are not covered until the final hook-up is completed.

Step 5:

It’s fairly simple to finish hooking-up the cabins: just connect the various plumbing, water and electrical lines into the bottom connection points.

Step 6:

Water lines are connected in the same manner as the sewer lines.

Step 7

Finally, the domes are skirted. We are looking at many different options for skirting. These images are of a simple, sheet metal skirt. Skirting enhances the look and keeps small animals from moving in underneath.
