This Monolithic Dome home, on a beach site on Sullivans Island, South Carolina, is a prolate ellipse measuring 80′ × 57′ × 34′.
The grand staircase to the third level continues the dome’s sculpted and curved design.
It encompasses the home’s main living area: living, dining and entertaining areas; a kitchen; 3 full bathrooms; 2 bedrooms.
The Eye’s ground level has 8 huge openings that a hurricane’s storm surge can rush through without harming the dome’s top 2 levels.
Kitchen features an eating island and a work counter, built in opposite curves of Corian. Work counter has sink bowls molded right into it, making it seamless and easy to clean.
It’s located just to the right of the main entrance. The 3 progressively smaller windows create an interesting accent.
It includes a large whirlpool tub with a rounded window just above it.
This sitting room is suspended over the second level and flooded with sunshine coming through the skylight.
Located on the third level, the master bedroom has easy access to the outside porch.
The dome’s four levels provide 3500 square feet of inside living space.
Its bedrooms include large closets and access to 2 porches.
Balcony just outside the master bedroom includes an inviting hammock.
The main balcony, outside the living room, has a single pillar that is part of this Monolithic structure and is extremely strong.
From the balcony, one steps down onto a bermed hill and then down to the beach.
