Reader Reviews of Think Round, The Story of David B. South and The Monolithic Dome

November 19, 2004

As we get feedback from reader's regarding Think Round, we will post their comments here.

Thank you for Think Round. Every page and picture in your beautiful book is interesting to me. I read some of it every day -- not for longs periods of time, but when I have a spare fifteen minutes or so. I pick it up and read something -- usually it's just here and there in the book where I begin reading. I have now read most all the book. I relate with so many of the people, the places, and the times....Thank you, and others, for taking the time to formulate this most worthwhile book project. I readily identify with your many experiences, some of which I knew a little about, many of which I knew nothing about. Our paths have crossed a little here and there but really we have not had time to know one another as long-time friends. Your book has brought me to a closer relationship with you, so much so that I now almost regard you as a "long-time" friend. Again, thank you!

I not only recognize your persistence and your gifted ingenuity, but I greatly admire your continued courage in tackling huge challenges. It is a blessing to know you. I feel this same way about Barry and Randy as well.

This well-written book had me feeling as if I were reading a wonderful adventure novel: the modest Idaho cabin with no inside plumbing of his youth; his early days in the lumbering business; the railroad employee; the successes and failures in the foam business; his adventures building homes, farming, and finally inventing the jewel that is the Monolithic Dome.

When the most advanced country in the world spends billions of dollars each year building what I call "burn away, blow away" housing, David marches ahead relentlessly promoting the construction of the best buildings in the world.

This is the story of a true pioneer. There are so many good business and life lessons in the book that it's a must read for those interested in Monolithic Domes as well as others wishing to learn what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.

Abraham Lincoln said, "The vitality of thought is in adventure. Ideas won't keep. Something must be done about them." That, to me, is David South and his new book, Think Round. Not only does it explain about David and his life, it tells about the history and development of the Monolithic Dome. You will learn about a family of devotion and courage and the man that led them through a remarkable life of adventure and fun. I picked up the book one evening with the intention to read for a short time. Five hours later and no dinner, I was still reading.

If you have ever heard David South tell a story you always want him to tell another. That is the way you will feel about this great book.
